Stella Maris, The Star of the Sea, arose out of the needs of the Catholics in St.Georges who received their religious ministry via the Chaplain to the Armed Forces from 1849.
An actual church was finally built and consecrated in February 1948 and named Stella Maris, and in the year 2000 was proclaimed the Marian centre of the Diocese.
A beautiful white structure on Duke of Clarence Street, its imposing appearance offers welcoming pillars to guide those seeking spiritual comfort to its sanctuary within.
