221ft/67m long freighter was a target of the US Immigration for the smuggling of illegal immigrants to the United States. The Xing Da and its purported Chinese mafia crew (the 'Triad') were captured about 140mi/225km off Bermuda by the US Coast Guard in a sting operation with the US Marines. She was towed into Bermuda and after negotiations with the Bermuda Government, was purposely sunk at the northwest barrier reef where she sits on an even keel.
